A lawmaker in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Tobun, representing Epe Constituency 1 and the Director of Public Affairs Department of the Assembly, Mrs. Branco Adekoya have commended the journalists covering the Assembly for being alive to their responsibilities.

Tobun and Adekoya spoke as guests at the annual Get-Together of the Lagos State House of Assembly Correspondents Association (LAHACA), which held on Tuesday, 5th January, 2021 at the Assembly Pavilion.

Hon. Tobun, who expressed satisfaction with the activities of the members of the association over the years, said that they have been able to positively project the image of the Assembly with their reports.

“While I am not officially representing my colleagues who are not here today, I want to say that we appreciate your efforts in positively projecting the image of the Assembly with your reports.

“You have done well and we are all proud of you for doing your job the way it should be done,” he said.

Mrs. Branco Adekoya said in her speech that all the journalists that have been accredited to cover the Assembly were some of the best in the journalism profession and that they all deserved awards.

Adekoya added that members of the association have been performing their duties effectively, and used the opportunity to encourage them to do more, while wishing them a happy and prosperous New Year.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of LAHACA, Mr. Olanrewaju Adesanya had said that it was a thing of joy to “see all of you in the 2020 edition of our annual special event, when we gather to celebrate one another after one whole year of activities.”

“The event, which started sometime in 2014 has been our usual way of appreciating God Almighty for his protection over us and to provide an avenue for members of the association to hang out with members of the Assembly as well as our friends, associates and colleagues.

“This happens to be the first edition since our executive council took over the mantle of leadership of the association in March, 2020,” he said.

Adesanya thanked all the members of the association for their continued support for the executive council of the association, and for performing their duties as correspondents promoting the activities of this great house of Assembly.

“I want to specially thank the members of the Planning Committee of the 2020 End of The Year Get-Together under the leadership of Mr. Akinwunmi Akinwunmi-King of Daily Independent Newspaper. I am most grateful to you and your members.

“I also thank my immediate predecessor, Mr. Akinboye Akintola of Radio 1 under whose leadership this initiative started about seven years ago.

“Our appreciation also goes to all those who have assisted us financially and morally so that this event could hold. May God continue to support you in all your endeavours,” he said.

The event featured Kegites Gyration, while music was supplied by Super Stars Band.
