Hon. Setonji David, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Badagry Constituency 2 has congratulated Nigerian Muslims as they celebrate the Eid-El-Kabir.
This was made known in his festive message to Muslim brothers and sisters signed by his media aide, Mr. Posu Davies.
The statement, dated Friday 31st July, 2020 was made available to journalists.
To remain within the guidelines and health measures of this trying time, Hon. Setonji made it clear that while the celebration will be observed, both the hosts and those who are invited should take precautions and remember that the Coronavirus Pandemic is real.
While commending Islamic clerics on their prayers over the months for the world, Nigeria, Lagos State and Badagry, the lawmaker said, “The celebration of this season, especially in a time like this, calls for recognition of the efforts of our clergymen, who have not given up in prayers to Allah to contain the global pandemic. I am convinced that your prayers are effective and may Allah continue to be with you all.”
Speaking on the annual event, Hon. Setonji pointed out that today should be taken as one in which everyone will get relieved and refreshed, and urged Muslims to thank Allah for the grace of being alive.
He said, “The celebration of Eid-El Kabir must fit in with the essence of being alive in this trying time. I want you all to note that since you enjoy the grace of being alive, there is still hope. Allah will not forsake us for once. Please use this Sallah period as a window to show appreciation to Allah and also enjoy yourselves.”
The lawmaker also encouraged Christians to rejoice and felicitate with the Muslims on the Eid-El Kabir feast just like he is doing.
