Hope Beacons Again As Melaye Continues With His Rescue Mission In Kogi State


Senator representing the people of Kogi West Senatorial district in the Nigerian National Assembly, Senator Dino Melaye has phenomenally done well for his people in his constituency.

Apart from given his constituency a voice. Today, if you ask who is the representative of Kogi Central, they will tell you it’s Dino Melaye. That is the voice that is needed, speaking for the voiceless.

In terms of representation, he has done awesomely well to the satisfaction of his people.

A lot of empowerment scheme and skill acquisition programs, relief materials have been distributed across the seven local governments, scholarship programs for indigent students and over three hundred students are benefiting annually.

Aside all these, he has influenced a number of appointments at the federal level and also attracted over thirty federal projects to his senatorial districts spread across the seven local governments- schools, hospitals have been built, infrastructure are here and there.

 Dino according to those should know has about 56 projects in the last budget running into billions including the Kaaba – Ilorin Express Road that he has executed.

Melaye is a member in the House of Representatives. In the 2015 Senatorial election he was elected a member of the Senate of Nigeria from the Kogi-West.

He seconded the nomination of Senator Bukola Saraki as candidate for the office of President of the Senate following a nomination made by Senator Ahmad Sani Yerima.

 He was re-elected on the nineteenth of February 2019 to return as senator representing kogi-west senatorial district to be a member of the 9th senate.

Senator Melaye has sponsored about 20 bills and moved over 30 motions in the 8th national assembly to give his constituents and Nigerians a good parliamentary representation.

One bill that is most important to his constituents for its direct impact on their intellectual lives and the development of Kogi West Senatorial District is “A Bill for an Act to provide for the Establishment of a Federal University of Agriculture, Kabba to make comprehensive provisions for its due management, administration and other related matters, 2017.

Other bills sponsored by Sen Melaye which enjoyed overwhelming public support and commendation include:” A Bill for the prohibition of persons from lynching, mob action and extrajudicial executions”,

It seeks to protect crime suspects from extrajudicial and summary executions by offering statutory protection.

The disability integration bill, protection against domestic violence act are other bills sponsored by Sen Melaye.
