Two term federal lawmaker, Hon Jelili Kayode Amusan, who is the PDP senatorial candidate for Ogun central in the forthcoming general elections has urged Nigerians to team up with the party’s presidential candidate and former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to get back the country working again.

Amusan made this call while speaking to journalists over the success of South West PDP presidential tour held at Ibadan, Oyo state capital.

The former two term federal lawmaker said that it was quite obvious the country had taken a retrogressive journey back to the woods since APC government took over in 2015 leading to castrated economy, alarming unemployment rate, hunger, insecurity, poor infrastructure among others saying that ” our country as we speak is on a precipice but God through the wealth of experience possessed by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will bring Nigeria back on track”.

Amusan explained that it would certainly be dangerous and disastrous for Nigerians to trust again for another four years the ruling party that used its first term to play blame game rather than attending to the myriads of challenges confronting the nation.

He disclosed that “there is no denying the obvious that nothing is working under this APC government but fortunately, PDP has come to the rescue putting forward Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as our presidential candidate in 2019. He is a very successful business man and politician, his wealth of experience in governance is extraordinary. It is a known fact that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has all it takes with support of Nigerians to return the country to the path of growth, development, abundance and make the country work again”.

The former lawmaker maintained that the popularity and acceptability of Alhaji Atiku in the South West was confirmed by the large turn out of party faithfuls and members of public who came out in their hundreds of thousands to endorse the Adamawa born politician as Nigeria’s next president from May, 2019.

Hon Amusan revealed that his desire to represent his kith and kin in Ogun central at the senate come 2019 was purely a selfless ambition and a divine arrangement to make life more enjoyable for the people of the senatorial district through quality representation.

He said ” as a former two term federal lawmaker representing Abeokuta North/Obafemi-Owode/Odeda federal constituency from 2003 to 2011, I know what the assignment before me requires. My eight years achievements in terms of facilitating employment, empowerment of people among other attraction of developmental projects to my constituency still remain a record to beat”.

Hon Amusan explained “while I was at the House of Representatives, my salaries for eight years went back to my constituency in form of various empowerment programmes and I am happy that many of the beneficiaries are surviving on these kind gestures till date. I am promising that if given the opportunity to serve again in 2019, my salaries will be returned to my constituency”.

The former lawmaker disclosed that periodic consultations through town hall meetings with members of the senatorial district would form the basis of his lawmaking business at the upper chamber if elected vowing to always ensure that the opinion of the people counted in all that he would do while in the senate.
