Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Charles Oladele Ibitoye Dies at 64

The Olomu of Omu-Aran, His Royal Majesty, Oba Charles Oladele Ibitoye (Adogbajale bi ileke 11) has passed on at the age of 64.

Oba Ibitoye who passed on after a brief illness on Friday, December 1, 2017 was until his demise, a First Class King and an active member of the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers.
He was a civil servant with the Kwara State Board of Internal Revenue (1980-1993) where he head the tax unit until he became the Olomu of Omu-Aran on May 9, 1993 when his appointment was approved by the then Executive Governor of the State, Alhaji Mohammed Sha’aba Lafiaji (now, a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria). This was after his unanimous choice by the kingmakers in Omu-Aran and the blessings of the generality of the people of the town.
The soft spoken Oba would be remembered as an advocate and practitioner of peace and development.
The late Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Ibitoye was born on October 28, 1954 by Chief Olarewaju Ibitoye and Mrs Rachael Ayodele Ibitoye (both of blessed memory) of Ikoja compound, Omu-Aran, headquarters of Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

A graduate of Business Administration from the prestigious University of Lagos (1975-1978), Kwara State College of Technology, School of Basic Studies, Ilorin (1973-1975) where he did his General Certificate of Education, Advance Level, Offa Grammar School, Offa, Kwara State (1968-1972) where he did his West African School Certificate, Ordinary Level and Sudan Interior Mission (SIM)/Evangelical Church Missionary (ECWA) Primary School, Omu-Aran (1960-1968) where he did his elementary/primary education.

A devout  Christian of the Anglican denomination, he has served Omu-Aran community,Kwara State and humanity in various capacity.

His passage coincided with the internment arrangement in Omu-Aran of his second in command, the late Eesa of Omu-Aran, Chief, Prof. Samuel Oyin Abogunrin who hailed from Oke-Esa compound, Omu-Aran.
