Presidency Demands Apology From AIT Over Report Of Osinbajo, Amaechi Alleged Visit To Obasanjo

The photo of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Governor Rotimi Amaechi and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo shaking hands at a particular place went viral recently and it was believed that the duo of Osinbajo and Amaechi had paid a secret visit to Obasanjo at his Ota Farm in Ogun State have been denied.

The Media Assistant to former President Obasanjo, Kehinde Akinyemi confirmed the position taken by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Vice President, Laolu Akande, who had said his principal and Amaechi never met with Obasanjo in Ota.

The former President has already demanded retraction and apology from AIT for showing the picture on its social media segment, Kaaki Social, Thursday morning.

According to Akinyemi, “They met at the airport on Wednesday. There was no such meeting in Ota.”

The Presidency also denied the report gaining ground on social media where Osibanjo, Amaechi and Obasanjo stood somewhere in a place, smiling and shaking hands and the insinuation was that it was a politically motivated meeting.

Just as Akinyemi, Akande denied that his boss and Amaechi met Obasanjo in Ota.

Akande tweeted on his verified handle that the trio met at the airport Wednesday and exchanged pleasantries with nothing else transpiring afterwards.

According to him, there was no secret meeting.

“Ignore reports VP Osinbajo alongside Minister Amaechi held meeting with former President Obasanjo in Ota.

“Yesterday, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, on his way to Lagos, Vice President ran into the former President who had just landed. They exchanged pleasantries. Period,” Akande said.
