Do you know that the presiding Bishop of Christ Life Church Worldwide, Francis Wale Oke and the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A Adeboye share a deep relationship? The two men of God are very close. In fact, they have come a long way.
Pastor Adeboye has always been a father to the Ibadan based Pastor Oke in all ramifications. Apart from being his spiritual father and mentor, Pastor Oke was his Mathematics student in University of Lagos. Since that time, Pastor Adeboye has always struck as a unique person, and enigma and extra ordinary person. He always told his congregation about the style of excellence of Pastor Adeboye even in his days as a Maths teacher, which had profound influence on him.
“He taught his students to pass, in fact at a time we had to name him the lecturer of the year. He was very principled, simple and straight forward, he never came late to class, and he would never leave Untill his time was over, and he wouldn’t make himself absent from class. When exams were approaching, if you missed Pastor Adeboye’s tutorial, you are finished, because he would bring like 10 questions and say, “in case they ask you these questions, this is how to answer the,” and he would work all of them out.
And you can be very sure that four out of those questions would come out, though they wouldn’t come out verbatim. He wanted all his students to succeed. If anyone failed his class, I wonder if that person could ever pass again.
I went to introduce myself to him in the first month of entering the university in 1977, having attended his lecture. He told me to see him, and from that time the relationship has been intact.”
So when Bishop Wale Oke heard the call of God, it was natural that he got connected to Pastor Adeboye, Pastor Kumuyi, Bishop Benson Idahosa and David Oyedepo.
While Pastor Adeboye, the great mathematician turned-pastor, was born on 2 March, 1942 in Ifewara, near Ile-Ife, Osun State. Bishop Francis Wale Oke was born in 1956 in Kasumu Village, Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State. He studied Land and Engineering Survey at the University of Lagos, from where he was called by God.
